Timber Preservation & Damp Proofing

Woodworm Treatment

Wood-boring insect attack can cause structural damage in buildings and is unsightly. There are a number of wood-boring insects that attack timber properties in the UK, including Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum), Death Watch Beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum), Wood-boring Weevils (Pentarthrum huttoni or Euophryum confine) and House Longhorn (Hylotrupes bajulus).

We will correctly determine whether treatment is necessary in the first place (the wrong identification of the insect can often lead to costly and unnecessary treatments). And we will draw up the correct specification for elimination of the infestation.

Wet and Dry Rot Treatment

Dry and Wet Rot can cause structural defects in buildings. It is unsightly and unhealthy. It can grow at an alarming rate in certain conditions. Dry and Wet Rot are usually caused by dampness, running water, poor ventilation and bad maintenance, or a combination of these conditions.

We will identify the type, and the extent of any decay and will produce a suitable specification for the eradication of the problem. The cure of Dry Rot is much more extensive and expensive than for Wet Rot, so the correct diagnosis is essential.

Rising Damp Treatment

Rising Damp occurs when unprotected porous materials (bricks, stone, etc) are in contact with damp earth.

We will use the most effective damp-proofing systems available, selecting the right one for your particular problem and property. There are a number of possible solutions, depending on the cause of the problem.

Basement Waterproofing Treatments

Walls and floors below ground level are liable to varying degrees of water penetration. We can quickly determine the best solution available for this problem in your case.
